CommUniversity was founded in 1979 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1980. Modeled on successful programs in Minnesota and North Dakota, CommUniversity was developed to provide the Quad Cities community with the occasion to learn and grow. Now attracting over 600 learners each year, CommUniversity will present a series of classes - taught by local experts, including the faculty of colleges and universities, staff from museums and libraries, representatives of religious groups, and private citizens - that span the humanities, arts, social sciences, and various other disciplines. Special attention in 2012 will be given to the Quad City Symphony Orchestra's production of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem.
