Location(s)
The Jane Addams Hull House Museum (JAHHM) has partnered with members of the Conservative Vice Lords to create an innovative and engaging exhibition about this street organization's history. Using photographs, oral histories, and artifacts, this exhibit interprets the history through first person voices and experiences, yet engages an open conversation with relevant humanities scholars, as well. This exhibit is scheduled to open in the Lawndale community in Chicago in the Spring of 2012 and will serve as a 'street museum' and that will allow JAHHM to re-imagine the role of cultural institutions within the public sphere and to better meet the needs of marginalized communities.
