During Black History Month in February of 2008, The Abraham Lincoln Association and the NAACP branches of Springfield and Bloomington are offering a series of concerts by the Illinois Symphony Orchestra which pertain to the history of Civil Rights. In addition to music, the six concerts include spoken word segments based on the works of Lincoln, Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglass, and W.E.B. DuBois. Four of the concerts will be for school children and will include pre-performance preperation for teachers and students.Grant Date:
