In this project 15 youth in the after-school program at the Fleetwood Jourdain Community Center in Evanston will participate in a 30-week program that will explore African American identity and its relation to other identities of the African Diaspora. The program will approach its subject through varied discussion exercises, multimedia projects and perfomative workshops. The curriculum will be divided in three sections of ten weeks, which will each end with a performance project. The IHC grant will support will be used for the last two sections of the project, from March to August of 2006.
