Location(s)
The Oral History of Union County Hispanic Farmworkers project will document the transformation of the local agricultural workforce in Union County between 1970 and the present. The project is a collaboration between IMC and the Union County Historical Society, involving research on historical records; interviews with orchard managers, owners, and workers; and interviews with the children of workers. Findings will be presented to the community at IMC's Technology Learning Center in Cobden through a multi-media presentation. A CD and accompanying display will be disseminated to libraries, SIU's Morris Library and University Museum, local schools and the Illinois State Museum.
Oral histories from this project will be featured on 98.7WMFT as part of Voices: A Collection of Illinois Stories.
