"Waiting to Inhale" explores the battle between patients, doctors, activists and the United States Government over the legalization of medical marijuana. The film looks at the history of cannabis, documenting how its early use as an ingredient in patent medicines eventually led to its prohibition in 1937. The filmmaker had exclusive access to film the first major scientific study of medical marijuana to take place in over 30 years in the United States. This film will be shown throughout Illinois, in a series of screenings and panel discussions with experts, in order to spark conversations about the fuzzy lines between drug policy and care-giving in the United States.Grant Date:
