A DVD documenting the life and work of Loie Fuller, a turn of the century dancer whose radical contributions to dance and stage design were highly influential in the development of modern dance in Paris but remain largely unrecognized in the United States. The DVD will include the performance of the three dances that Loie Fuller presented in her 1896 program in New York which was her first solo concert in the United States and her most complete aesthetic statement. In addition it will document the process of reconstructing these dances and provide background information on Fuller's life and historical context.Grant Date:
