Michael C. Dorf
is founding partner of the Chicago law firm Adducci, Dorf, Lehner, Mitchell & Blankenship, P.C., where his practice includes commercial transactions, election law, and art and not-for-profit corporation and foundation law. Previously, he served as Special Counsel to United States Rep. Sidney R. Yates (D. IL), where he helped to develop national policies on arts and humanities funding, and also worked in the administration of Mayor Harold Washington, where he led the project which created Chicago's first Cultural Plan. He also served as Legal Affairs Consultant to the President's Independent Commission on the National Endowment for the Arts in 1990, and as General Counsel to the Democratic Party of Illinois from 1993-1997. Dorf is Adjunct Full Professor at the Law, Politics, and Arts and Street Law for the Artist. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and the School of Law of Columbia University. He and his wife, Maury Collins, and son Jack reside in Chicago and in Lee County, Illinois.
