Robert F. Lipman

is a leading expert in conceiving and guiding marketing and communications programs in support of major fundraising campaigns for not-for-profit organizations and a consultant to many of the nation's major philanthropic institutions at Lipman Hearne, where he is currently Senior Counsel and a founder of the company. For more than 30 years he has worked with institutions across the country as communicator, creative director, graphic designer, and consultant. He has provided leadership for identity and public visibility programs, and led the development of public information and advocacy campaigns. Among the hundreds of institutions Lipman has served are the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, Atlantic Philanthropies, Duke University, The University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Rush University Medical Center, the Library of Congress, Ford Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution, RAND Corporation, and The Burnham Institute. Currently, he serves on the boards of The Family Institute at Northwestern University and the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, he continued his studies at the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology, where he later taught graphic design. Lipman has an extensive history of publishing articles and presenting on a broad range of topics including institutional identity, communications strategy, and fundraising communications.
