Since its founding in 1973, the Illinois Humanities Council has provided key support to filmmakers striving to tell the stories of our state, the nation and the world through documentary film. In the Documentary Films section of our website, visitors can find a list of over 70 Council-funded films along with ways to access these films for viewing and purchase. Filmmakers interested in obtaining IHC support for their films can find information about our Major and Media Grants Programs, and browse our list of sponsored films to learn about the kind of film projects the Council has supported in the past.
