ILLINOIS HUMANITIES COUNCIL GRANT RECIPIENT UNVEILS MCHENRY COUNTY LANDMARK DISCOVERY TOUR MAP
Guidemap highlights historical, architectural, environmental, and recreational sites

WHAT: Join the McHenry County Historical Society’s Historic Sites Committee for the unveiling of the McHenry County Landmark Discovery Tour Map. Included in the new map is historical information, an architectural glossary, and the location of plaqued sites and structures located throughout McHenry County which tell the story of the county’s history and its importance to the development of Northern Illinois.
WHO : This event is free and open to the public.
BACKGROUND: A recipient of a major grant ($10,000) from the Illinois Humanities Council in 2000, the McHenry County Historical Society’s Historic Sites Committee developed this guidemap to better educate the citizens of Illinois about McHenry County. Other sponsors include member initiative funds secured by state Representative Jack D. Franks and The McHenry County Historical Preservation Commission.
