Sharon Kinley

Sharon Kinley has demonstrated her dedication to the community and to the humanities through her involvement with the Plainfield Public Library, the Plainfield Historical Society, and the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. Ms. Kinley was an educator at Central Elementary School for 28 years and was among the initial group of teachers to begin the Reading Recovery program, a highly effective short-term intervention of one-on-one tutoring for low-achieving first graders, in Plainfield. She also volunteered her time to tutor students during the summer. During this time, she was active in the Association of Plainfield Teachers, the Illinois Education Assocation, and the National Education Association. Ms. Kinley continues her educational pursuits though her current volunteer activities. She has been a trustee on the Library Board since 2002 and currently serves as Board President and a liaison to the Plainfield Plan Commission. For the Historical Society, Ms. Kinley wears many hats: Program Chairperson, Event Coordinator, Costume Committee Member, and scriptwriter for the 2006 Cemetery Walk.
