Karen Armbrust

Karen Armbrust, creator of the Wayne Historic Preservation Society, "is a dedicated, tireless volunteer in keeping the history of our community alive for all to enjoy," according to Village President Eileen Phipps. Ms. Armbrust is spearheading the relocation of the Wayne train depot to its original site in the village. Once the move is complete, the depot will be used to house and display photos, documents, and artifacts from Wayne's history; it will also serve as a community center. Ms. Armbrust has also taken over the care of the Old Town Hall, ensuring its upkeep and readiness to receive the public each year for Wayne's Flag Day Celebration and Parade. She has also served on the Wayne Historical Sites Commission and organized "Wayne Days," a community festival held each October which features historical and educational events such as farm machine demonstrations and storytelling.
