Patricia Williams-Lessane
A native of Chicago, Patricia Williams Lessane earned a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Illinois - Chicago. Patricia has been an Andrew Mellon Fellow, has taught english, women's studies, and cultural anthropology at Chicago State University and Northeastern Illinois University, and currently teaches full time at Wilbur Wright College. She has also headed the Diversity Initiative at The Field Museum, is a free-lance writer, and is currently working on a novel.How I Got Over: Black Women, Music, and Laughter
In this presentation, Patricia Williams Lessane examines the appearance of music, laughter, and female companionship in the writings of African, African American, and Afro-Caribbean women.
