Peter N. Gray, PhD

Peter N. Gray, PhD, is a multidisciplinary artist and scientist whose work interprets the inherent aesthetics of genetics, microbiology, and physics. Dr. Gray earned his PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Texas and his research included the cellular mechanisms involved with Huntington's Disease. Among many accomplishments, Dr. Gray was head of the department of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, co-founder of BernĂ rd Technologies, Inc., a founding member of the Biotechnology Research and Development Corporation, and managed the formation of American Gene Therapy.

Genetic Science and Art

This program introduces the concept of genetics and the material used to convey information that determines traits and characteristics, so that audiences gain an awareness of genetic replication, transcription, and translation of genetic information into proteins. Once a basic understanding of key scientific processes is reached,Dr. Gray will then show examples of "Genetic Art" to demonstrate accessibility and integration of science and genetics in everyday life.
