Ex Libris - Online Bookstore
The Illinois Humanities Council, in association with BarnesandNoble.com, has developed Ex Libris, an online bookstore. The categories in the blue box on this page will direct you to lists of titles that IHC staff recommends. Many of these titles come from our own libraries. We have also highlighted books written by many who have been involved in our programs.
As part of our arrangement with BarnesandNoble.com, the IHC receives up to 5% of every sale generated through our site, regardless of whether the books you buy are ones we have listed. That's up to 5% of every sale that goes toward bringing quality humanities programs to the people of Illinois.
A note about our name: Ex Libris comes from the bookplates that are often pasted on the inside front cover of books to indicate ownership. Roughly translated from Latin, it means "from the books of" or "from the library of."
